| The Miss Jamaica Independence Scholarship Pageant Queen, Royalty Princess and Boys Scholarship Kings will perform cultural artistic expressions. This star stud showpiece event marks the celebration of Jamaica's heroes and sheroes. The Entertainment promises a belly full of laughter from Skit performances, to African Dancers, the talents are one of a kind. |
| Shauna Burrell, best known as the "Lady with stage presence and captivation will perform a dramatic presentation, written by the Honorable Louise Bennett-Coverly. Shania Phillips "winner of the 2006 Miss Lou scholarship will perform " A Gospel Song. The audience will be fully involved with laughter, clapping and amazement. |
A historical and community service trip to Jamaica was accomplished this year in July 2007 as all the winners from 2006 made a pilgrimage to Jamaica. All four Queens and Princess's received scholarships, awards and gifts. Duties included, visits to Orphanages, Hospice center, Hospitals and other local organizations. |
| In addition, our Miss Jamaica Scholarship queen, Debianne Cole performed on Saturday, July 14 th, at the Miss Jamaica Festival queen coronation in Kingston, Jamaica. She received a warm welcome from Jamaicans in the audience. |
| Upon returning from the community service trip from Jamaica, we decide it was appropriate to honor Ambassador Dr. Basil K. Bryan, Consul General of Jamaica. Ambassador Dr. Bryan was instrumental in assisting our organization years ago with contacts in Jamaica for performing community service with the young people in the Scholarship pageant. |
This is a cultural, education, historical and community based scholarship pageant, while we enjoy the glitz and glamour; we must reach back into our community, especially to our homeland, Jamaica that gave us such a rich heritage. |
We look forward to honoring Ambassador Dr. Basil K. Bryan, Consul General of Jamaica says, Director of the Pageant and co-founder, Ms. Dionne Lewis. |
