| Jamaica's opposition parliamentarian Mike Henry is calling for the PNP government to take the issue of compensation for slavery to the international courts. |
The Jamaica Labour Party transport spokesman said he wants the international community to explain why the direct descendants of slavery should not be compensated.

| He said his immediate concern was to complete the parliamentary process in Jamaica, and have a political decision voted on by the members of parliament, "which will charge any government to take the matter of reparations forward.". |
| "I would like to hear an international court decide if Jamaica is not entitled to reparations as equal to what was paid to the slave owners," he told BBC Caribbean. |
| Mike Henry has expressed disappointment that the issue of reparation was ignored by Britain's deputy prime minister John Prescott during Mr Prescott's visit to Jamaica last week. |
