Police in Montego Bay have killed five men they suspect are members of a gang responsible for a number of killings in the town.
News reports from Montego Bay describe a fierce gunfight in broad daylight between the police and a number of armed men.
They say the men were driving a car, and they'd refused to stop when challenged.
The police say they have dented the

"The gang was wanted in connection with several cases of shootings, robberies and murders committed in the parish," said Superintendent Wilford Gayle.
Last week, gunmen shot and killed 6 people although it's not clear whether any of the men was responsible.
The police and politicians have expressed concern about rising violent crime in Jamaica's second town, normally quiet by comparison to the capital Kingston.
St. James, the parish of which Montego Bay is a part, has recorded the most killings this year.
Police said they also recovered four guns; a .25 guardian automatic, a 9mm semi-automatic, a homemade shotgun and a imitation revolver.
The killings shattered the weekend mood of Montego Bay, which had been filled to bursting with tourists after a weekend jazz festival.
